Neighborhood Spotlight: Hollywood Heights
One of the best parts of my job is that I get to see beautiful houses all around our city! Because of my world, I am quick to forget that not everyone knows what I am talking about when I mention a specific neighborhood. Recently I was at dinner with friends, all Dallas natives, and no one knew where Hollywood Heights is. I’m so excited to start shining a spotlight on some of the great neighborhoods that Dallas has to offer, and today we’re starting with Hollywood Heights!
Hollywood Heights aka Hollywood/ Santa Monica is located in east Dallas— think south of Lakewood and just west of Tenison Park Golf Course, bordered by East Grand Ave (turns into Garland by the Arboretum). It is zoned to Lakewood Elementary, too!
Established pre-WWII, Hollywood/ Santa Monica boasts beautiful Tudor homes, big trees, and rolling hills. Drive around on a Fall day, and you won’t feel like you’re in Dallas. The homes are all super cozy, and they’ll always be that way! Hollywood Heights was the first conservation district in the City of Dallas. This means that any construction or exterior changes of your home will be subject to approval by the city.
When you drive around, you’re sure to see neighbors visiting in their front yard. They have a very active neighborhood association that hosts fun events for the whole neighborhood! Keeping it cozy, Woodrow Wilson High School is located just adjacent to the neighborhood and it’s not uncommon to see students walking to school.
I recently had clients close on the most charming 1929 Tudor in Hollywood Heights. From original stain glass and crown molding to the arch around the front door, it was perfectly unique! Check out the photos below!
