My Favorite Thanksgiving Recipe
The countdown to Thanksgiving is officially on, and I want to share my FAVORITE Thanksgiving Recipe with you! This sweet potato casserole is the perfect combination of sweet and savory. It’s the perfect addition to your Friendsgiving or Thanksgiving table. The topping adds the perfect crunch! I know you’ll love it and reach for seconds, just like I will! It’s always a crowd favorite.
INGREDIENTS
For the Sweet Potatoes
3 large sweet potatoes
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 stick margarine
1 tsp. flour
2 eggs, separated (beat whites)
For the Topping
1 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup margarine
3/4 cup brown sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
Peel, cook, and mash sweet potatoes. This should yield about two cups of potatoes. Add in margarine, sugar, salt, flour, vanilla, and combine. Fold in beaten and stiff egg whites. Pour into greased casserole dish.
Combine pecans, flour, margarine, and brown sugar to create topping. Sprinkle on top and bake for 30-45 minutes, or until topping in a deep golden brown.
